The US private sector added nearly 10% more jobs than predicted last month, according to a report produced by outsourcing solutions provider Automatic Data Processing (ADP), reports Reuters.

Economists predicted the sector would add 101,000 jobs in October, but 110,000 were eventually created.

Total job addition came entirely from small and medium-sized businesses, Reuters notes, with large companies shedding 1,000 positions overall.

Private firms also significantly reduced job cuts last month, totalling 43,000 down from 116,000 last month – the lowest level in four months.
