INTERNATIONAL Indonesia: 9.6m jobs in two years
Indonesia’s National Development Planning Board has revealed plans to create 9.6m jobs from 2012 to 2014, reports The Jakarta Post.
Unemployment in Indonesia was 8.1m in February, or 3.5% of its 230m population.
The Jakarta Post reports industries earmarked for investment include steel, oil palm, rubber, coal, food and beverages, textile, nickel and copper facilities, while the minor projects focus on roads, seaports, hydropower and solar power plants, airports and railways.
A spokesperson for the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce told the paper: “At this moment, from 100 fresh graduates, 30 of them cannot cope and are not suited to industry ?requirements. A link and match system to connect formal education with competency-based training (CBT) companies is required, but it has not yet been established.” ?
