Airline Air Canada has announced it will hire over 1,000 employees over the next 12 months, of which 200 are new positions for flight attendants and pilots at the airline’s low-cost carrier, which is due to launch next year.

Airline Air Canada has announced it will hire over 1,000 employees over the next 12 months, of which 200 are new positions for flight attendants and pilots at the airline’s low-cost carrier, which is due to launch next year.
Other jobs available include 400 flight attendants on Air Canada’s main, existing brand, 500 full- and part-time airport customer service agents and baggage handler positions, and 60 further call service agents in addition to the 160 already hired this year to date.The company’s president and chief executive Calin Rovinescu says: "Air Canada is undertaking a selective hiring process over the next 12 months to seize new commercial opportunities, enhance customer service and renew our workforce. This recruitment programme is consistent with our focus on controlling costs to become more competitive in our various markets.
“At a time when youth unemployment is nearly 15% in Canada, we are pleased to offer exciting career opportunities that will especially appeal to young people,” he adds with reference in particular to the new flight attendants roles.
The company employs around 27,000 across Canada, and served over 33m customers in 2011.
