Ignore unhappy staff rather than redeploy, says Impact Factory

Unhappy staff should be ignored rather than redeployed, according to Jo Ellen Grzyb, director of professional development company Impact Factory.

Unhappy staff should be ignored rather than redeployed, according to Jo Ellen Grzyb, director of professional development company Impact Factory.

Grzyb says that when companies merge or acquire others they make the mistake of concentrating on persuading those unhappy with the change.

“Wrong. The energy should always be put into those who are already on board - the so-called champions or early adopters, because it will mean less work and you feel better working with people who are behind your plans.

“And finally, the more people who get swayed by the champions, the smaller the audience for the ‘snipers’ or ‘terrorists’ as we call them in the trade.

“The fight usually goes out of them or they eventually leave because they won’t get the same satisfaction of moaning that they got before when more people listened to them.”
