Financial and insurance recruiter Highams Systems Services has announced a return to profit in its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2009.
Profit in the period was £40,000 against a £261,000 loss in 2008, but revenue fell to £3.77m from £5.66m in 2008.
Ken Ford, chairman of Highams, says: “As anticipated in our preliminary results announced at the end of July, we have produced a profit for the first six months of this financial year despite the difficult trading conditions during the period. We are pleased that the positive effects of the significant cost savings achieved have all come into play and this reduction in our overheads, together with the signs of increased activity within our market have therefore given the expected results so far. With these increased levels in activity, we expect further progress during the following six months and look forward to our future growth.”
