Goodbye recession, hello attrition

Assessment company Finding-Potential says recruiters and employers could face high attrition rates as the economy emerges from recession if they don’t find out what factors are important to individuals at work early in the recruitment process.

Managing director Ron Eldridge told Recruiter that before the recession one in four people left their jobs within six months of joining and 50% within two years. “This hasn’t been an issue over the past 18 months but retention and engagement are going to return big style,” he said.

FindingPotential recently launched an online psychometric test called Engage designed to find out what makes an individual feel engaged and committed at work.

“Why wouldn’t you want to know what’s important to individuals?” said Eldridge, giving the example of a contact centre where an employee’s time is largely structured. “But I’ve never met anyone who recruits for a contact centre talk about how important independence or autonomy is to the candidate.” www.findingpotential.com
