The Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) has launched a second consultation on a protocol between the GLA, leading supermarkets and suppliers to counter labour exploitation in the UK.
In May, the GLA began its consultation with leading supermarkets to help fight exploitation of UK workers.
The GLA is seeking to establish common principles with with ASDA, Iceland, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, the Co-operative, Waitrose and supplier representatives on how the GLA, supermarkets and suppliers will work together.
Paul Whitehouse, chairman of the GLA, says: “This protocol seeks to take advantage of the supermarkets and their supply chains’ efforts to act in an ethical and socially responsible way. This consultation gives everybody the opportunity to contribute and I would urge people to put their views forward.”
