Following the launch of its permanent older persons & mental health division last year Geneva Health has entered the temporary market.

Andrea Lane, manager of the older persons and mental health division which specialises in providing staff to care and rest homes, says “We are seeing huge demand from our clients for temporary staff. At the same time, a growing number of nurses are finding temporary work attractive as they like the flexibility it offers.”

Lane told Recruiter there was a huge shortage of qualified nurses to work to work with older people in care and nursing homes, which was regarded as as “less exciting” than other areas of nursing.

The new temporary desk will focus on the London area.

Lane says she is looking to have at least 40 temporary wokers out working by the end of 2010.

The company has recruited Shaifta Walele, a former corporate recruiter at Cap Gemini as consultant and expects to begin placing temporary workers within the next two weeks.

Due to UK’s ageing population, Lane expects the older person’s division to double in size by the end of the year.
