New report praises flexible working for increasing employee commitment

A new report has praised the benefits of flexible working, finding it improves an individual’s performance and increases their loyalty.

The research is the result of a two-year project by Cranfield School of Management called Flexible Working and Performance. It questioned flexible workers, their co-workers and managers, finding there was either a positive impact or no impact on the quality of work produced.

Flexible workers were also found to have higher levels of organisational commitment and in some cases a higher level of job satisfaction.

Pat McFadden, Minister for Employment Relations, said: “This report shows that helping parents and carers to better balance their work and home commitments  can be good for families and business.”
