Fish4jobs performance on the up
After a period of integration following its acquisition by Trinity Mirror in 2010, job site Fish4jobs is performing well, according to the managing director of Trinity Mirror Digital Recruitment.
Trinity Mirror took control of Fish4jobs in October 2010, sitting along side other brands in the Trinity Mirror digital classified portfolio including GAAPweb, totallylegal and SecsInTheCity.
Although accounts filed at Companies House show Fish4jobs made a loss of £1.69m in the year ended 31 January 2012, Paul Halliwell tells Recruiter Trinity Mirror has been “happy with its performance”.
“It has made a meaningful contribution in profit terms,” he says, though he adds that it is not company policy to provide any further details on the financial performance of individual entities within the group.
“It is a very different entity now to the one we bought,” he adds.
Fish4jobs now has 1.2m unique users month, a figure that has been solid for 12 months.
One improvement is great efficiency, says Halliwell. This comes from being able to share corporate functions such as marketing and HR, something that was not possible as a standalone company, he explains.
Among other initiatives, Fish4jobs has extended its reach through regional websites in Manchester and Birmingham. It also runs road shows around the UK as well as partnering the Daily Mirror in its 'Get Britain Working' campaign.
The National Online Recruitment Audience 2012 Survey (NORAS) found that Fish4jobs attracts a varied audience, with 56% working as employees or trainees and 31% in supervisory or managerial roles. Popular roles include: Admin/Secretarial, followed by Retail, Customer services, Sales, Catering, Healthcare and Teaching.
With its network of 30 metropolitan and local sites, 8% of its users live in London, 7% in Greater Manchester, 7% in the West Midlands, 5% in Merseyside, 5% in Tyne & Wear and 4% in West Yorkshire.
