Female workers

Nearly a third of UK female workers feel their male counterparts are paid more

Almost a third of UK female workers feel they are paid less than their male counterparts, according to a new survey.

The survey, from jobsite CareerBuilder.co.uk, shows that 30% of UK female workers say they feel they are paid less than male workers with the same skills and qualifications. Meanwhile, 38% of female European workers believe they have suffered pay discrimination compared will male workers with the same skillset and qualifications.

German female workers (45%) were most likely to report pay discrimination, while only 28% of female workers in the Netherlands had suffered such discrimination.

Tony Roy, managing director of CareerBuilder.co.uk, said: “While female workers in the UK reported less discrimination than European workers overall, there is still much work to be done to promote equality in the workplace. Companies recognise the competitive advantage a diverse workforce provides and are placing more emphasis on recruitment and retention practices that encourage equality.”
