Employers urged to survey staff on workplace ethical standards

Employers should survey their staff on ethical standards in the workplace, according to a new guide.

The guide, from corporate behaviour adviser the Institute of Business Ethics, urges business to consider that:

• Different functions will need to work together, such as ethics, compliance, internal communications and internal audit along with HR.
• Ethics surveys should be incorporated into existing processes for canvassing staff opinion.
• The company should be clear about what aspect of ethical performance it wishes to better understand or measure
• Organisations should monitor its ethical performance against its own targets and ethical commitments.
