Escape the City, a careers service which offers unfulfilled finance professionals a route into more meaningful employment, has launched a US-based website.

The US site, operated from New York, is led by Mikey Howe, an ex-Merrill Lynch investment banker, who decided to quit his job to take the role.

Rob Symington, co-founder at Escape the City, says: “We’ve taken a lot of inspiration from start-ups, books and blogs from the States, which influenced the ideas for our first community in London. It’s hugely exciting for us to be exporting our concept from the UK to the US, when historically so many start-ups travel in the opposite direction.”
