Online retailer Play.com is implementing eploy’s e-recruitment software and applicant tracking system to support its new [email protected] careers website. Play.com already uses a range of social media including Facebook and Twitter to attract candidates and this will help the company to integrate its recruitment processes with these channels and track the response from each.

eploy technical director, Chris Bogh (above), told Recruiter that the branded career portal will provide candidates with easy access to career opportunities and presents a single management interface for the company’s recruitment function. “The amount of channels that can be used for recruitment means that firms must track response, so they can make decisions based on cost and return on investment,” he said.

Talking about career portals and looking ahead to the web 3.0 era, Bogh believes that they will be increasingly used to integrate a variety of niche web services and co-ordinate those involved in the recruitment process.

“Applicants can make use of online registration and apply for jobs, but candidates can now be given access to resources such as diaries to arrange their own interview times, track the status of their application and access recruitment resources and advice,” he explained. “And hiring managers can have access to create new requirements and participate in the shortlisting process. Agencies that form part of a PSL can also submit candidates and manage contract workers. This is a great example of how web 3.0 can really help co-ordinate the various parties involved.”
