Employment Bill passes third reading

The Employment Bill has passed its third reading and is to be sent to the House of Commons.

The Bill, introduced by Lord Jones of Birmingham to the House of Lords, aims to streamline employment law compliance by giving individuals the rights they are entitled to, supported by an effective penalty regime.

The Bill will now be debated at the House of Commons and will receive Royal Assent, if it successful, coming into force in April 2009 as the Employment Act 2008.
