Employers prefer productivity to long service

Employers favour productivity over long service, according to a new report.

The report, from recruitment process outsourcing firm, Alexander Mann Solutions, found that 69% thought length of service was the least important criteria in defining a high-performing employee.

Being productive was ranked by 44% as the most important attribute for high performers. And engagement and cultural fit were the next highest-ranking qualities.

Rosaleen Blair, chief executive at Alexander Mann Solutions, said: “In the modern workplace, time served is no longer a factor in assessing an employee’s worth or performance. Instead, performing above and beyond employer expectations and proactively seeking new opportunities or more work is key to being recognised as a high performer and considered for promotion.”
