Do not dismiss the ‘jagged CV’, which despite gaps or signs of previous adversity may offer brilliance, says George Anders, Pulitzer-winning journalist and author of The Rare Find, which looks at recruitment and talent acquisition across countries and sectors.
Speaking at an event chaired by Recruiter editor DeeDee Doke, celebrating the launch of his book at publishing house Penguin’s London offices, Anders advised recruiters and employers to look for potential and ask ‘what can go right?’, not simply look at the negative aspects of a track record when hiring.
