Curb public sector spend

In response to ’CIPD: Immediate public sector cuts could threaten recovery’ (recruiter.co.uk, 19 April), surely it’s far better to curb spending and not hike up national insurance?

This would affect far more small-medium businesses adding greater pressure to the economy.

Perhaps if John Philpott had his own business then he may understand the pressures of such a hike. He should surely know that the SMEs in the UK are the main driving force behind the economy. Perhaps he is as irresponsible as Gordon Brown’s spending policies!
