The construction workforce for the 2012 Olympic games is set to double over the next year, providing welcome job creation for recruiters in the sector.
David Higgins, chief executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority, told TheGuardiannewspaper: “The delivery of this unprecedented project has already created more than 3,000 jobs and the increase in work this year will see our workforce double.”
Recruiters working on the scheme say it has been a major boost. Ray Connolly, director of construction recruiter Fawkes & Reece, told Recruiter: “The Olympics offers some security for the construction sector, against the uncertainty in the current economic climate.”
Connolly added Fawkes & Reece is currently working on the preferred supplier lists of most contractors working on the Olympics, placing candidates in a variety of roles including engineers and site managers.
