Construction sector continues to build

Construction project starts increased 6% year-on-year for the three months to October, according to the latest index from construction industry supplier Glenigan.

Construction project starts increased 6% year-on-year for the three months to October, according to the latest index from construction industry supplier Glenigan.

This growth is driven by infrastructure, although non-residential construction project starts also increased 2% year-on-year, despite minimal growth in education and a 10% drop in residential project starts.

The East, South-East and South-West of England saw the highest increases in project starts, while London, the East Midlands and the North-West fell by more than 10% and project starts in Scotland were particularly weak.
