Complaint against IHR not upheld by ASA

A complaint against hospitality recruiter International Hospitality Recruitment (IHR) has not been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority.

A complaint against hospitality recruiter International Hospitality Recruitment (IHR) has not been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority.

The complaint against IHR of 9 Bentnick Street, London W1U 2EL, challenged whether claims made on the company’s website that its team had “over 50 years of hospitality, catering and leisure industry experience internationally” were “misleading or could be substantiated”.

IHR set out the working history of each team member which showed that together, they had 53 years of experience with the hospitality, catering and leisure industry internationally (19, 26 and eight years respectively). They further acknowledged that two members of the team had been working in recruitment since 2003 and 2005 respectively and consequently did not believe their claims were misleading.

The ASA ruled that as IHR had provided evidence supporting their claims and as it considered the nature of the claims had been made clear, they ruled they were not misleading. The ASA therefore ruled that no further action was necessary.
