The number of new City roles remained at the same level month-on-month in April, according to the latest Morgan McKinley London Employment Monitor.

However, the Monitor reveals a 15% increase on the number of jobs available compared with the previous April.

The number of new professionals entering the jobs market in April 2011 fell by 17% on March and was 8% down on this time last year.

The average salary for those landing new jobs this April was £52,228 – 4% lower than those finding new roles in March.

The time taken to fill financial services jobs was 60 days, up from 51 days in March 2011.
