This week’s Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) conference and exhibition calls for HR teams to become “more business savvy” and to have a deep understanding of their company and situation.

As reported yesterday on recruiter.co.uk, the 2011 conference kicked off with chair Gill Rider calling on HR professionals to become business leaders.

Dr John McGurk, learning and talent adviser, CIPD, says: “HR needs to have a heightened understanding of every section of the business, particularly the operational functions, which impact the bottom-line.

“This is the only way to ensure HR is consistently delivering real business impact and sustainable performance.”

The CIPD conference ends tomorrow, 10 November.
