Catholic Church plans to recruit during Euro Championships
The Catholic Church is bidding to recruit new members during the forthcoming European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.
Auxiliary bishop Franz Lackner of Graz, head of the Austrian Church’s Sports Commission, formulated plans for the championships during a May 7 meeting with Pope Benedict XVI.
It is hoped that the Church’s programme, ‘On the Ball for 2008 Years,’ inspired by sports references in St Paul’s letters, it is hoped will make the tournament an opportunity for opening communications with young Europeans.
