The abolition of the official retirement age makes career changes for older professionals more likely, suggests trading and brokerage house, Schneider Trading Associates (STA).

The company offers a trader training programme with no demand for previous experience of qualifications, and believes the new legislation will help tackle the continuing problem of age discrimination.

Matt Silvester, head of training at STA, says: “The removal of a compulsory retirement age will be welcome news for huge numbers of people, especially those who are faced with changing careers.

“In my experience what makes a successful trader is aptitude for the role and the right attitude, and I believe this to be true of any number of jobs.”
