An automobile recruiter has given his support to proposals to give manufacturers a tax ‘holiday’.
The proposals reported in today’s Financial Times come from Jim McColl, a leading shareholder in Clyde Blowers, a Glasgow-based engineering business and one of Scotland’s richest men.
McColl argues that eliminating or postponing taxation on all or some of the profits of manufacturing companies for a set period of up to five years would boost investment and jobs in the sector.
Robert Blowers, a director at specialist automobile recruiter REP consultants, told Recruiter: “From the point of view of recruitment and employment it seems like a good idea.”
