Brookson introduces IR35 advice line
Accountancy and tax advice provider Brookson has launched a new IR35 advice line.
Accountancy and tax advice provider Brookson has launched a new IR35 advice line.
IR35 was proposed in the 1999 Budget of the then Chancellor Gordon Brown to target ‘disguised employment’ - workers who receive payments from a client via their own company. These payments are not subject to National Insurance contributions (NICs) as they can be treated as dividends, and workers can also save tax by splitting ownership of the company with family members to place income in lower tax bands.
The advice line acts as an extension of the support service currently offered to Brookson customers around IR35 compliance.
Martin Hesketh, managing director of Brookson, says: “Brookson has long recognised the complexities of the IR35 legislation but we also understand that not all IR35 queries are overly in-depth.
“This service will provide an easy means of support to our customers when they need a quick response regarding an IR35 enquiry, or if they simply want some advice over the phone on their current employment status. Callers will be put directly through to employment law specialists who can offer free, personally tailored advice and there are no limits to the amount of times a customer can use the service.
“Our advice is always to encourage customers to make continual IR35 checks to ensure they are working compliantly and this new phone line means that customers can now have even faster access to our industry expertise.”
Customers can call the advice line on 0845 058 1227 or alternatively 01925 235 723.
