The UAE is “very optimistic” over agreeing a deal with Research in Motion (RIM), the Canadian maker of BlackBerry, to stop suspension of the handset services in the country next month, according to the secretary general of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

“Talks are very advanced and positive,” Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi told reporters in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. “We are very optimistic it will be resolved before the deadline.”
