Big Society talk is just hot air, claims Andrée

The founder of niche ex-services personnel recruiter ForceSelect has criticised the government’s stance on The Big Society as being all talk.

The founder of niche ex-services personnel recruiter ForceSelect has criticised the government’s stance on The Big Society as being all talk.

Hugh Andrée, who founded Force Select in 2009, told Recruiter: “We have no government funding despite all the big talk coming out of the government.
“The government has asked for The Big Society to support the public sector and that is exactly what we are doing.”

ForceSelect, which has placed around 200 service leavers into work, also provides mentoring and support services to help service leavers make the transition from military to civilian life.

Andrée added: “The mentoring and support doesn’t generate any revenue it is a cost to me, but it’s a cost that is worth absorbing because it is unique and doing the right thing, and is providing a support mechanism that they don’t get from anywhere else.”

ForceSelect won the Best Newcomer Agency Award at this year’s Recruiter Awards for Excellence supported by Innovate CV.
