Motivational speaker Humphrey Walters inspires recruiters

The Association of Staffing and Technology Companies (ATSCo) brought back motivational speaker Humphrey Walters to help inspire recruiters, after his last performance caused “tears and goose bumps” among members.

Frank Coombes, recruitment manager at IT recruiter Just IT, who attended last evening’s event, told Recruiter he had taken a lot of notes about the importance of communicating with staff and clients and working towards a common goal. “In recruitment it’s far too easy to rely on KPIs. At the end of the day it's about building up the trust element - it’s about motivation.”

Coombes applies Walters' training techniques for sports' organisations such as England’s world-cup-winning rugby team and Olympic athletes to drive business performance and personal motivation.

Using his experience working with England’s Olympic team, Walters explained that the athletes and coaches needed to be put at the centre of the environment. “I wonder if we put our client in the middle; I wonder if we sometimes keep our client to ourselves and don’t share them with our other resources,” he said.
