Apprenticeships Bill

Government publishes draft Apprenticeships Bill

The government has published a draft Apprenticeships Bill that introduces new measures to increase the popularity of apprenticeships.

The new bill outlines the role of the new National Apprenticeship
Service (NAS), which will include a national vacancy matching service to link potential apprentices and potential employers. It will also enable employers looking for apprentices to advertise through a national portal.

Skills minister David Lammy said: “Apprenticeships are valued across Britain as a means of providing employers with a well-trained workforce which helps their business succeed.

“Apprenticeships contribute significantly to businesses’ bottom line. They tackle skills shortages, contributing to increased productivity, and can help businesses weather difficult economic times.”
