Aikido resolves business conflicts

Problems between staff and management? Does your company have conflict issues it needs to resolve? Worry no more. Just turn to the martial arts to solve your plight.

Problems between staff and management? Does your company have conflict issues it needs to resolve? Worry no more. Just turn to the martial arts to solve your plight.

From 29-31 May, Telecom Business School’s gymnasium in France will be transformed into half-classroom, half-dojo [a place where martial arts are practised, apparently]. In this unusual setting, says the School, students will learn to manage conflicts in business through the lessons of martial arts.

“Aikido teaches you to be active without being aggressive,” explains Michel Berne, head of training at Telecom Business School. “In situations of conflict that occasionally arise in business, it is essential to know how to control yourself.

“Aikido teaches you to manage conflicts in a constructive and creative manner. Rather than considering others as adversaries, aikido teaches you to see them as partners who give you the opportunity to learn, to grow.”

So next time your boss launches himself at you, arms and legs a-flailing and screaming in Japanese, he’s only being creative.
