Employees looking for a higher wage packet should head to Scotland or Wales, according to a recent study by job search engine Allthetopbananas.com.

Data from a sample of over 9.4m online job advertisements from the company’s database shows that the average growth in advertised salary between 2008 and today in Wales is 16%, followed by 7% in Scotland.

These were two of the highest salaried regions in Allthetopbananas’ data, with average yearly pay at £37.3k and £32.8k.

These were also the only areas to see a rise in salaries over the last four years and the only regions where salary remains above £30k – in London it stands at £39.5k, down 7% over the last four years.

Yorkshire & Humber and the East Midlands saw the two most significant salary drops, at 17% and 16% respectively.
