FINANCIALS: Monster buoyed by North America, LinkedIn strong in all geographies
While job site Monster was not saved from weakness in its European and Asian markets by a strong performance in North America, professional social network LinkedIn reports strong growth across its geographies.
Monster saw a 14% year-on-year increase in bookings in North America, offset by weakness elsewhere. The North American buoyancy was driven by the firm’s government solutions business, as well as its staffing and newspaper verticals.
Global revenues for the half-year ending 30 June dropped from $531m (£341m) in the same period in 2011 to $483m, while net income was also down from $11.1m to $8.5m.
Net revenue at LinkedIn grew by similar proportions across the various geographies, ranging from 25% quarter-on-quarter in its smallest ‘Other Americas’ region to 17% in EMEA, with its largest region, the US, at 22%, and Asia-Pacific at 24%.
Its membership rose from 174m, having been 116m the previous year, while revenues rose from $188m in Q1 2012 to $228m in Q2.
