Westfield unveils plans to bring over 5,000 jobs to Croydon

Shopping centre group Westfield starts a four-day consultation tomorrow (5 July) on plans for a £1bn shopping centre in Croydon, which would bring over 5,000 permanent local jobs.

Shopping centre group Westfield starts a four-day consultation tomorrow (5 July) on plans for a £1bn shopping centre in Croydon, which would bring over 5,000 permanent local jobs.
The group has previously delivered Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush and Westfield Stratford City near the Olympic Park.The new centre would comprise a redevelopment of the existing Whitgift Centre shopping complex.
John Burton, Westfield’s director of development, says: “Westfield has the experience from many past developments around the world to redevelop the Whitgift Centre in phases, allowing the retailers to continue trading during development.”
Following the consultation, an application for development should be submitted later this month.
