The number of people employed in the UK’s aerospace industry in the UK rose by 4.3% to 100,658 across the year 2011, shows a reports from aerospace and associated industries body ADS Group.

The number of people employed in the UK’s aerospace industry in the UK rose by 4.3% to 100,658 across the year 2011, shows a reports from aerospace and associated industries body ADS Group.
The median weekly wage also increased by 2.7% in the sector, with the industry’s broadly strong performance seeing a difficult year for defence aerospace, which was hit by various austerity measures, but offset by a particularly strong civil sector.Overall, 142,372 people were employed by the UK aerospace industry, of which over two-thirds were also based in the UK itself. The US employed around a quarter of these, with the rest split roughly between the EU and the rest of the world.
