Nippon Sharyo Manufacturing will add around 150 extra workers in their Rochelle, Illinois plant when its manufacturing of stainless steel railcar bodies reaches full operating levels.

The Rochelle facility is a new plant already employing around 140 workers, 50 of whom were sent to the firm’s Japanese arm over 12 weeks to learn various skills.Nippon Sharyo, the parent company, says that the new facility was opened for two reasons, firstly the increasing of competitiveness in the rail manufacturing market, and the second the increased demands for ‘Buy America’ and localisation of the industry.
