Hiring activity of ‘C-Level’ or top tier managers in the US increased in April by 8.3% – the only senior-level hiring category to register a month-on-month gain.

This is according to the managerial Employment Index from recruitment sites JobSerf and CareerCast.com, which surveys data from across a number of local and national job boards.Hiring for roles at vice president level declined by 13.5%, at director level by 7.7% and at managerial level by 18%.

Hiring across all four categories remains higher than that seen in January, but lower than that seen in April 2011.

The South-West remained the region with the most buoyant hiring in the report, although Washington, DC was still the city with the most activity, followed in order by Boston, San Francisco and Seattle, all unchanged since the previous month.
