Up to 10,000 green jobs could come to the Northern region of Asturias, according to the founder of political party Equo, Juan López de Uralde.

Speaking to regional newspaper La Voz de Asturias, López said: “In the green industry sectors, Asturias has a huge potential for creating jobs”, with ecological agriculture, building re-fits, making transport sustainable and renewable energy mentioned as key sectors.López adds that it would be a mistake to ignore green issues even in a moment of wider political crisis, saying the marine contamination which affects fishing stocks is one area in which “you can see the impact of environmental pollution in job losses”.
