Search is on… for a nurse to work on one of Scotland’s remotest islands

Healthcare recruiters may be of use in finding a new nurse for a remote island near Shetland.

The BBC reports that Fair Isle in northern Scotland, home to around 60 people, 10,000 puffins and more than 1,000 sheep, is seeking a nurse for the island.

The island has no power at night, no flights into its airport until the snow clears, and ferry crossings can be cancelled for weeks on end due to treacherous seas.

The role commands a salary of between £26,565 and £35,577 for a 37.5 hour week, depending on experience, while there's also relocation assistance of up to £8,000 in addition to a distant island allowance of £1,721 per year.
