German airline Lufthansa is to follow British Airways’ lead and axe commission payments to UK travel agents from 1 April. Lufthansa’s Star Alliance partner British Midland is also likely to follow suit. The move is part of a drive to cut distribution costs and develop new business models.


Lloyds TSB’s e-procurement system should save the bank £145 million out of a total spend of £1.5 billion by 2004, according to David Oldfield, group purchasing and supply management director.
