Q: How do you write off a bad debt in a subscriptions account?

The entry in this case is relatively simple, namely to debit the Subscriptions Due Account and credit ‘Subscriptions for Year’ in the Income & Expenditure Account. When the subscriptions are collected they will be posted to the Subscriptions Due Account and at the end of the period there will be an outstanding balance reflecting unpaid subscriptions.
