Reported fraud in the UK has broken the £7bn barrier over the last five years, according to figures from accountancy firm BDO’s annual FraudTrack report.
BDO’s team of specialist fraud investigators anticipate annual reported corporate fraud will continue to rise significantly over coming years in areas such as commercial lending and mortgage markets.
Job creations across the country rose sharply in January, up nine index points on December, according to the Reed Job Index.
The index posted a reading of 113 with increases in the private sector growth, while public sector jobs remain less than half their level of a year ago.

Multi-sector recruiter Eximius group has parted company with director Stefan Pillinger after he was jailed for an incident at a City pub in which two bar staff were injured. Pillinger was sentenced to nine months’ prison for throwing glasses at bar staff after the word ’gay’ was scrawled on his credit card. The company director admitted unlawful wounding and actual bodily harm.

The chairman of Pertemps Group has admitted that his company “slipped up” in hiring a former managing director of a Pertemps group company who lost her claim against Pertemps for sex discrimination and victimisation. Earlier this month a Birmingham Employment Tribunal accepted Watts’ evidence that Smith’s claims were “a pack of lies”.

Multi sector recruiter Stafforce has acquired Relay Recruitment in a deal that was driven by the two recruiters’ common ethical stance, according to the chief executive of Stafforce.
