The research shows that IT workers in the North earned 69% of London salaries in 2009, up from 66% in 2008.  Average weekly pay for IT professionals in the North of England rose by 6% last year to £625, up from £590 in 2008.

Industrial recruiter Driver Hire has hired Jim Kirwan and Mika Zonta as trainers to deliver its Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) training.

Kirwan previously worked as a transport manager for BRS, based at a Morrison’s, while Zonta was a transport manager at Clipper Logistics.

Umbrella company Parasol has appointed Chris Clowes as group head of sales.

Prior to joining Parasol almost two years ago, Clowes spent 12 years in various agency roles, most notably as sales director for Reed Health and operations director for Pulse Staffing.

Clowes replaces sales director Paul Shrimpton.

While the use of social media in recruitment is increasing, definitively proving return on investment is still not easy, recruiters have heard.
