More than half (52%) of Scotland’s financial service firms say they intend to increase headcount in 2010.
According to a survey from financial services recruiter Joslin Rowe Scotland, and supported by Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Financial Enterprise, this planned increase is up by 10% on last year’s hiring.
Of the top 1,000 UK recruiters, 136 have left themselves open to becoming a bargain acquisition, according to new research from financial research company Plimsoll.
More than a third of graduates are thinking about moving abroad to find work, according to a survey by student-employer matchmaking website www.studentgems.com.
The survey of 1,085 recent graduates and final-year university students found that 34% of British graduates were prepared to look for posts overseas, with 75% citing a struggle to find work as the prime contributory factor.

The number of hours worked by private sector temporary workers increased by 35% in January, according to procurer of temporary agency labour de Poel.

Professional services firm KPMG has appointed Michelle Quest as UK head of people.
Quest, who joined KPMG from Robson Rhodes in 1997 and became an M&A tax partner in the firm’s tax and people services practice in 2003, takes over from Rachel Campbell, who was recently appointed KPMG’s global head of people.

Technical engineering human resource recruiter Morson International has appointed Mark Smith as account manager.
Smith, who previously worked in-house at Transport for London for two years and the Thales Group will serve established Morson clients, while creating new business opportunities within the transportation and aerospace sectors.
