Turnover in the UK’s recruitment industry has bounced back by more than 25% to just under £25bn, according to the Recruitment Industry Trends Survey 2010/11 launched today [9 November] by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).

Major British high-street retailers are optimistic about the festive season, with the significant majority of those surveyed forecasting equal or improved sales on 2010, according to new research from management consultancy Hay Group.

Almost half of the retailers questioned are predicting a sales increase and nearly half of these are expecting that to be an increase of over 5%.

The construction of an Air Products’ renewable energy facility would create between 500 and 700 new engineering and construction jobs, according to a spokesperson for the energy firm.

This week, Air Products announced it had won planning permission from Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council for a renewable energy facility near Billingham, Teesside.
