The recruitment industry’s favourite social business network LinkedIn thrives on people giving up-to-date and full information about themselves and their professional life.

A huge new Facebook data centre covering 30,000sq m – the size of 11 football pitches – will create at least 30 full-time roles in Sweden’s arctic circle city of Luleå.

The environmentally-friendly site will be the largest facility of its kind in Europe, and will handle all Facebook data for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Career and talent management organisation Fairplace Cedar has appointed Penny de Valk as chief executive.

De Valk joins from the Institute of Leadership and Management, where she had held the position of CEO since 2007, having previously worked for HR services firm Ceridian and the Institute of Management in her native New Zealand.

South African unemployment dropped by nearly 1% in Q2 2011, reports newspaper Business Day.

Payne succeeds Rachel Campbell who recently took on the global head of people, performance and culture role for KPMG International.
