Spanish bank Santander has announced that it will cut 1,900 jobs across its three UK businesses - Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley.
The bank said that the cuts will occur in 2009 to reduce costs and have not ruled out compulsory redundancies.
