Outsourcing and recruitment group Workforce plans to list on Johannesburg's AltX (Alternative Exchange, for smaller firms) by the end of next month in a bid to raise R24m (£1.75m). Workforce plans to use the cash for acquisitions and to expand in South Africa. The group places staff in sectors such as leisure hospitality, and food processing.

Berlin is facing a shortage of Santas, the head of a placement agency has told Reuters.
Rene Heydec, director of Berlin's Heinzelmaennchen agency — which acts for 5,000 families that order 20-minute visits from Santa on 24 December — said, "We need at least 300 Santas to meet the demand but we only have about 100 signed up so far."
The firm recently spent a week in Bucharest, providing information to several hundred potential candidates. This generated enough candidate for its medical and dental business for the next four months, said managing director Craig Coverman.
City analyst Kean Marden, formerly of Merrill Lynch, has taken up a new position at Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander.
At Merrill, Marden followed companies such as Michael Page and Hays. He will still cover them, but he told Recruiter he will now extend his coverage to other UK firms, probably including SThree, Robert Walters and Imprint.
