The number of vacancies across the permanent IT job market dropped from 15,492 in July to 13,973 in August (down 9.81%), according data from IT recruiter Computer People.

The data also reveals contractor positions were down 0.18% from 6,033 to 6,022.

Industrial recruiter Pebble People is to open in Northampton.

Pebble People, the third Jark Joint Venture in the UK, will be led by recruitment specialist Harry Bowden.

The firm will focus on supplying staff to the industrial sector, then open up into the commercial and technical sectors towards the end of the year and join the social care market in the early part of next year.
